Update: February 16 2005
Av Randy Reynolds
Were Back!!! Sorry for the long delay. Since our last update, Reynolds Sailing has been very busy producing boats #10, 11, 12 and 13, introducing the new R33 one design at the Annapolis Boat show, signing up a Factory Dealer Rep, signing up dealers including our Houston dealership Texas Performance Multihulls, owned by professional sailors Carter Perrin (AC boat sailor) and Charlie Ogletree (silver medallist in the Tornado class in the 2004 Olympics), refining the R33 14 foot wide one design for full production, developing the new R33 Power cat fishing boat, starting the plug for the R44 and lastly testing the foiler project in model form. First, the big news, Reynolds Sailing announces new Factory Dealer Rep
Reynolds Sailing signs Factory Dealer Rep to set up RS dealer network.
Reynolds Sailing has contracted a Factory Dealer Rep that will be setting up our US dealer network for the R33 and other RS products. He will be promoting the R33 one design and our consumer friendly lease back program allowing qualified R33 owners to make money with their R33 catamaran thus sailing and owning an R33 virtually for free! New Dealers
Four dealers have already come aboard. The first to represent the RS line of boats is navel Architect Tim Layne of Hyperships in Annapolis MD. Tim displayed the new 14 foot wide, easy to slip, R33 at the Annapolis Boat with great success. Tims new R33 is the second boat in Annapolis and joins boat owner #6, Jim Nealey. Jim Nealey already has some good sea stories to tell including surviving 50 knots of wind while racing on the local waters. Below is Tim showing off the R33 at the Annapolis Show. If you are in the Annapolis area call Tim at 443-691-9587.
Our second dealer is located in the Houston Area. Carter Perrin (AC cup sailor) and Charlie Ogletree (silver medallist in the Tornado class in the 2004 Olympics) has been signed up for the Houston area in Texas with their new R33 to be delivered in early Jan. We were very excited to have Charlies first impression of the boat, given his multihull and sailing credentials. Charlies first impression of the boat is below

My first sail on the R33 was pure fun! It was like sailing my ACat, but with my friends along to share the fun. The boat was incredibly responsive, powerful and easy to sail. The R33 hit boat speeds of 10 knots in only 4 knots of wind with the code zero up and full main. When the wind was 10 knots gusting to 16 we averaged 18 to 20 peaking to 24.5 knots with full main and small reacher in 6 foot swells and 3 foot wind chop
not bad for a cruising boat :)
The entire package is well designed for simple, exciting sailing. The boat is a Ferrari yet easy to sail with seating for all. Randy and Reynolds Sailing have done a nice job in designing a package that is easy to rig, sail and unrig.
The R33 is trailerable and can be assembled and on the water in a very short time. With her 14-foot beam the R33 can also fit in a traditional boat slip.
The boat comes with everything you need to put the fun back in sailing, no matter what the wind velocity...

Our Third dealer is ASAP Multihulls in Miami Florida. Steve Bohlman, owner, has enlisted the likes of Dave Calvert to help sail and promote the R33 cat. Dave will be campaining a boat starting with a tune up race on March 19th 2005. Meet Steve and Dave at the Miami Show this Feb 17th thru the 21st in Miami!!!
Our forth Dealer is located in Long Beach and will be announced in our next update. This dealership already has 4 boats in the area allowing for the first R33 class racing to be organized for the upcoming 2005 season. Since the new dealership will be in our backyard, Reynolds Sailing will be heavily involved with the class and participating and organizing both cruising and racing events.
We also hope to have boats trailer from other areas to participate in the Ensenada Race and Catalina Island series. Below is the new easy to slip, easy to sail and blistering fast 14 foot wide R33 one design in action off Long Beach, California
.
The new R33 Powercat Sport Fishing Boat.
I know, I know, its not a sailboat. But since the launching of the new R33 14-foot wide boats hit the water here in Long Beach, allowing the boat to be put into a standard 35 foot slip, I recieved a lot of interest from some of my local buddies who are avid fisherman that wanted to see the R33 as a sportfisher. So, I decided to see what such a boat would look like. After talking and taking much advice from these semi-professional fisherman, the boat started to take shape. When I showed them the 3D boat drawings and told them it could sleep 2 people in two separate cabins with a head and ice box in each hull, that with twin 25-35 hp motors the boat will achieve 18-22 knots and get 6-8 miles per gallon, and it could come either with a trailerable 86 beam or slippable 12 to 14 foot beam. We will be testing the first proto-type in April.
The R44 Catamaran
The project is currently on hold as we get the new 2005 R33 in production and set up our dealer network. The R44 frames have been digitized and we will be erecting the plug very shortly. Be watching for future updates and pictures of this exciting project.
R33 Foiler Project
The project is currently on hold as we get the new 2005 R33 in production and set up our dealer newtork. We have been sailing the Hobie Trifoiler in extreme conditions learning what it will do in a larger version in larger seas. The testing has been quite encouraging as the Tri-foiler has shown to be quite seaworthy for such a spindly looking craft. There has been two RC models already built to test the new foil and sensor designs and it has proved to be very successful! Keep looking for updates!
Corsair Marine
We are happy to announce we have contracted Corsair Marine to build all the fiberglass components of the R33 catamaran. Corsair Marine is the leader in building high quality trailerable trimarans. They have a sophisticated laminating process that has allowed us to save 200 lbs per hull allowing a 400 lbs weight savings in the overall weight of the boat. We look forward to building many R33 catamarans with Paul, James, Kurt and the gang at Corsair!
Summary
We are very excited about the upcoming 2005 season. We are in production with the R33 One Design and with Craig and our new growing dealer network I will have more time to finalize the R44 and Foiler projects as well as racing and promoting the R33 14 foot wide one design.
It should be an exciting 2005 !
If you have any questions on the R33, R44, R33 Foiler or PowerCat please dont hesitate to email or call me at 800-366-8584. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about our company and new line of exciting catamarans.
Till next time
Fast Sailing!
